Arson not Ruled Out in Lords’ Bank Fire
A couple has been left without a roof over their head following the fire that destroyed their home on Monday on Hollywood Drive in Lord’s Bank, Ladyville. The owners suspect that the fire was intentionally set. Today we spoke with Operations Officer Orin Smith of the National Fire Service and he says that they are still investigating what caused the fire. While they haven’t ruled out a single cause, neither have they dispelled the possibility of arson.

“The structure was not insured. The origin of the fire was on the south west portion of the house and the cause is still not yet determined.”
“Could you say specifically where it started – like in the kitchen; the bedroom?”
“I am not too keen on that. I was just told that it originated in the southwest section of the house.”
“Do you have an idea – more or less – by when you would know what caused that fire?”
“As investigation goes on, probably by tomorrow, hopefully.”
“Have you ruled out anything – such as electrical or so?”
“Nothing yet has been ruled out. Everything is still open.”
“Nothing that would point to it being intentional?”
“There is always a possibility of those things occurring, but investigation usually uncovers whether it has any natural cause based on electrical or cooking, as you said.”
As you heard, the property wasn’t insured and so the Reid family says they would need the public’s assistance – if you are able to assist you are asked to call 627-3248 or 635-2770.
