Japanese Asako Solis Out on Bail after Domestic Incident Involving Firearm

Asako Solis

After spending two nights on remand at the Belize Central Prison, Japanese national, Asako Solis, who has been living in Belize for over ten years is home tonight. The thirty-eight-year old mother of two children is facing two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm upon her Belizean husband, Elvis Solis. Her husband alleges that Asako, twice in December, assaulted him; the couple is going through a divorce which has turned out nasty. Asako, however, denies the allegations made by Solis.  Her application for bail was taken to the Supreme Court by her attorney Alifah Elrington-Hyde this morning in the Supreme Court of Madam Justice, Judge Antoinette Moore. There were no objections and she was granted bail in the sum of five thousand dollars which she met around noon. But conditions are attached that she must stay away from her husband and attend all court appointments. She also must stay out of trouble. Solis claims that on December eighteenth they got into an argument in their bedroom and that is when she pulled her licensed nine millimeter pistol at him. Days later, he says that she threatened to kill him when he refused to give her money that was in the safe.
