Doug Singh Walks on Charges from Port Authority

Businessman fifty-four-year-old Doug Singh appeared in court today in connection with two port authority offences that he was charged with earlier this year. Back in July, Singh who is the owner of International Cooperate Service was charged with permitting a man to operate a vessel without having a valid certificate of competence and permitting to operate a vessel without having a Belize Port Authority Sea-Worthiness Certificate. Prosecutor Harrison Hulett made an application to Magistrate Norman Rodriguez to be granted an adjournment until January 2017 because the key prosecution witness was unable to appear in court and he could not locate key documents to proceed. Magistrate Rodriguez noted that an order was made for trial to start today; and that adjournment applications are not to be considered unless it’s made fourteen days in advance. He then struck out the matter and told Singh he was free to go. In an off camera interview, Singh told our reporter that he wasn’t in the country when the two charges were made against him.
