Wagner’s Lane Centenarian Marks 103rd Birthday

Leonora Harris Patnett

The average life expectancy for a female in Belize is around seventy-three according to the 2015 World Health Organization stats. There are several people who have defied those numbers and over the years we have shown you several of their stories, particularly those who make it to a hundred years old. And tonight we will show you another lady who is celebrating a milestone. Belize City resident Leonora Patnett, on Tuesday, celebrated her one hundred and third birthday. We stopped in to speak with the lively and witty lady on Wagner’s Lane. Here’s what she shared with our reporter Andrea Polanco.

This is Leonora Harris Patnett. Today she turnsone hundred and three years old.  Although the Wagner’s Lane resident started walking with a walker just a few years back, todayshe can still see and reads without a pair of glasses. Perhaps what is most striking about her is that she loves a good laugh and is quite the story teller – her mind is as sharp as it was decades ago.

Andrea Polanco

“Did you ever think that you’d live to see not just 100, but 101, 102, and now 103?”

But before the one hundred and fourth, Patnett will enjoy this one hundred and third with a big birthday cake. And to keep her active to see another year of life, Patnett watches TV, reads the Bible and attends church. She also enjoys a good ole laugh with friends and family:
