“Will this push you to perhaps work even harder?”

Jerome Middleton

PC Jerome Middleton

“Yes, definitely, ma’am.”

Andrea Polanco

“What are some of the challenges that you face every day on the job and how do you deal with them?”

PC Jerome Middleton

“Well, Policing on a whole is a very challenging job. It is very demanding. It is a balance between family and work, but at the end of the day, we as officers have to come out here and do what we have to do. Like, I said it is challenging but this is what we do.”

Andrea Polanco

“Talk to us about previous awards and how does this one compare?”

PC Jerome Middleton

“Well, I had an award for the most arrests, dedication of services. This one is very special because this year I have been through a lot of hardships, but I am here so.”

Reporter

“For how long have you been a police officer?”

PC Nelson Ramos, San Pedro Police

“I have been in the Police Department for a little over thirteen years.”

Nelson Ramos

Reporter

“How do you feel about being recognized today?”

PC Nelson Ramos

“It is a very good feeling. I feel excellent for getting such a reward.”

Andrea Polanco

“What drives you every day when you go out on your job?”

PC Nelson Ramos

“Initially from joining the Police Department, what drives me is my family. Secondly, the society also. I am dedicated and responsible for keeping them safe and thirdly, I want to be an example not just for my community but for the entire country.”

Henry Jemmoth

ASP Henry Jemmoth, O.C., San Pedro Police

“It is very important for us to recognize officers because it builds moral within the Police Department and it also booster the strength of our area. Each officer that is picked or selected for this they have to be exemplary. They have to show good manner and the will to do and set an example for the other officers. So, PC Ramos has shown that and on a general consensus of my high command in San Pedro, we selected him to be that officer.”

Reporter

“Would you hope that this award would inspire other officers in your division to perform their utmost?”

ASP Henry Jemmoth

“Yes, we have been doing it- when I arrived in San Pedro a little bit over two years ago, I noticed that the morale of officers were down and this was one of the brainchild that I knew was working in the past. So, we readapted that and it is something that the whole formation is doing.”
