Financials Will Be Ready for Annual General Meeting, Says C.E.O.

According to Chief Executive Officer Henry Anderson, during the time when there was an issue with Banks Holdings, an agreement was made for new auditors to be assigned to the Citrus Products of Belize Limited.  The process of reviewing the company’s financials has been extensive and is expected to be completed in time for an annual general meeting in mid-December.  Anderson says that the concerns of the farmers will be addressed at that gathering.

On the Phone: Henry Anderson, C.E.O., Citrus Growers Association

“There was a decision made at an annual general meeting of CPBL to change the auditors it had and the decision was never carried through because at the board level and at the time and the previous management that was there they were pushing back.  So for three years CPBL didn’t do its audited financials.  At the time CGA was the majority shareholders.  All of those financials had to be consolidated up to CGA, so that had a spill off effect on us.  CPBL has now corrected that and we have gone to get those audits updated.  Those will be finished shortly and an annual general meeting of the CGA will be held on the seventeenth of December.  The CGA will send out the formal legal notice with our books and everything like that and at the annual general meeting the growers will get the minutes and the report from the committee of management.  They will get to hear from the auditor to discuss the audited financials and then they will be voting for the members of the committee of management.  So essentially what is being asked by these gentlemen now will be dealt with in a perfect, proper way on the seventeenth.  I will say to you that although the annual general meeting was not held because we have to take the audited financials there, there have been special general meetings of the CGA to deal with issues that fully require the input of the growers. That’s the situation.”
