Cubs hold big parade, will retired catcher visit Belize?

Today was celebration day for fans of the Chicago Cubs, as the biggest parade in the city’s history flowed from Wrigley Field, the World Series’ champions’ home stadium, to Grant Park for an official rally. In Belize, five thousand would be considered a good crowd for such a parade, but imagine five million! According to online sources, that makes it the seventh largest gathering in human history – another record. It helps that the state declared it Cubs Day state-wide and schools were already closed. And closer to home, the Belize Tourism Board is hoping the oldest player on the team, thirty-nine year old David Ross, will take them up on their offer of a free vacation to the Jewel, which it describes as the second largest fanbase of Cubs fans worldwide. They packaged it in a Belizean-style version of the team’s song, “Go Cubs Go.” Ross retired after fifteen seasons in baseball and went out a winner, even hitting a home run to help the Cubs’ cause in Game Seven. But this weekend a local motorcade is being planned in the city by Cubs fans.
