Where Was Southside O.C. Chester Williams?

Chester Williams

Assistant Commissioner of Police Chester Williams was noticeably absent from this afternoon’s inauguration.  In fact, the Officer Commanding Eastern Division South has been a no-show at several events hosted by his cross-town counterparts.  Today, the media asked ACP Dezerie Phillips what’s up with the top cop’s absence.

“We repeatedly see events at North side where we don’t see the commander of South side.  We know there may be personal differences, we’ve heard anecdotally.  Is the South side involved in this, are they invited to this?  You said it in your speech but just for the record, will the whatever personal differences exist, be they of your making or not, will the South side officers be included in these training sessions?”

“Jules, I hold the Eastern Division to my heart dearly and everything that I do is about Eastern Division whether it’s in respect to police officers or it is the community-at-large, I have this division at heart.  Whatever we do it will include all three divisions because that’s what it it’s all about.  So I won’t concede to your comments because I will not be a part of that but I will ensure and I will make a statement to say that whatever we do it is inclusion of all the three divisions.”
