Government Plans Signing U.N. Anti-Corruption Convention in December

After years of resisting, the G.O.B. recently agreed to sign the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. Prime Minister Dean Barrow did so at a recent meeting with the Belize Chamber of Commerce when he solicited support for a bicameral investigation into the Immigration scandal. But with things bubbling, the government has now pinned down a date for signature. A release says that cabinet agreed today to accept the recommendation of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry Working Group on the Implementation of the UNCAC and to sign on December ninth, 2016, to coincide with the International Day Against Corruption.  The government release states that by that date, the working group would have determined the scope of the necessary measures to ensure the proper implementation of Belize’s obligations under the Convention. We note that ascribing to the convention, is also one of the demands of the unions.

Too little, too late, and anyone who falls for that okeydokey is a jackass! He’s trying to take the heat off of them and they’ve had years to do this. He can sign all he wants. Vote them out!
