Teachers Announce Second Day of Strike Action

Luke Palacio

But the big announcement came this afternoon from B.N.T.U. National President Luke Palacio after a meeting at the union headquarters. Across the country, the B.N.T.U. teachers stayed away from the classrooms and in most cases so did the students…we’ll have that story coming up. But what happens on Tuesday. After a successful day-one, will the teachers stay out of school for at least a second day? The short answer, yes, as the B.N.T.U. flexes its muscle against corruption and other issues of national importance. In an announcement this afternoon, Palacio outlined Tuesday’s plans.

Luke Palacio, National President, B.N.T.U.

“So my friends, brothers and sisters, we can see that the intimidation tactics have not work. And because the intimidation tactics have not worked, tomorrow we continue the strike. Tomorrow morning, I will also be in special session, emergency meeting of accounts of management tomorrow and we invite all our members again to be here with us tomorrow evening at three o’clock for further instructions. Enjoy the rest of your day, enjoy the strike, take care of yourself and remember this is a peaceful protest. We are not going to destroy this country; we are going to disassociate ourselves from anybody and any organization that think that they will ride on the backs of the B.N.T.U. to destroy this country. Solidarity forever! Solidarity forever!”
