Love Triangle in Orange Walk Claims Life

In Orange Walk Town, tragedy struck a family when one of their own was fatally stabbed on the abdomen and chest on Sunday. Thirty-year-old Bladis Gonzalez who had just moved to the town from Corozal was allegedly stabbed to death by his former neighbor. The motive is widely believed to have been triggered by a romantic relationship the deceased was having with the ex of the murder suspect. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

This house here at the corner of Ziricote Street and Palmar Road in the Louisiana area was the scene of the latest homicide in Orange Walk that took place just after midday on Sunday. Thirty-year old Bladis Gonzalez was involved in an altercation with a man who introduced a knife into the fight and stabbed him multiple times to the chest and abdomen. The man then escaped while Gonzalez was left for dead. Police arrived shortly after on the scene and rushed Gonzalez to the hospital, but he died.

Jose Mendez

Insp. Jose Mendez, Deputy O.C., Orange Walk Police

“We received an information of a stabbing incident in the Louisiana area; corner Ziricote Street and Palmar Road. Police visited the area and saw the lifeless body of a male person later identified as that of thirty-year old Bladis Elude Gonzalez, originally a resident from Chula Vista Corozal and who recently moved to Orange Walk couple of days and was residing at that address. Police observed several stab wounds to his chest area and abdomen and transported to the Northern regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”

Gonzalez is the younger brother of Sarah Coc from Chula Vista in Corozal Town. She says that exactly one month ago, he became involved with their neighbor, Robert Locke’s ex-common-law wife.  They later moved to Orange Walk to escape from Locke, who had threatened his life. Coc says she received the tragic news from a friend moments after her brother was fatally stabbed.

“I have a friend, she called me and told me about it. She told me that they just stabbed your brother. I already mi know that he was running a danger because her common-law husband was already saying that he wants to kill him; that he wants to find him and kill him. And every time he tell me the same thing because they live close to us they are neighbors too. And I never believed it. That he was going to kill my brother and that he was going to bad beat up the lady. So when he said that, I told him that you can do whatever you want. I just want to leave me alone. I don’t want your friendship again anymore. And he said okay; I will do so because I already know where they are and he told me about San Lorenzo housing site here in Orange Walk.”

And according to police, the investigation so far indicates that the murder may have been motivated by a love triangle. The murder weapon has not been recovered and police have since issued a wanted poster for the accused, thirty year old Robert Locke, who is also a resident of Chula Vista area in Corozal.

“Our investigation is leading us to be something like a love triangle which led to the murder. The suspect we are seeking at this moment, was looking for his common-law wife who was living with the deceased and we believe that that led to this incident.”

Sarah Coc

“He get into a relationship with her after they broke. They had already broke like two months already and then he get with she after his birthday…he started with this young lady. But we never know that would happen. He never had a wife before. He never had a wife before. This is the first time he was trying to get through with this young girl. He said he really liked this girl so he was going to make his life with her. He tried, but they don’t left him.”
Insp. Jose Mendez

“All relevant information will be sent to the Corozal Commander and personnel as well as other districts that we believe or suspect that he would go.”

Not to be picky but are Belize Police that inept that they can’t figure out that either the DOB or the age is wrong? If the man was born January 22, 1972 there’s no way in Hell he can be 30 years old. The man is either 44 years old or he was born in 1986. Period.
