Amandala Journalist Micah Goodin Gets in Trouble with Police at Minister’s Meeting

As we said, this morning, school managers gathered at the ITVET in Belize City for a critical meeting with the Ministry of Education. So did the press, to report on that meeting. But when Amandala journalist Micah Goodin reportedly tried to get inside the room to shoot cover pictures of a private meeting, the police got involved. Goodin was outside the room when the police arrived and wanted to remove him, threatening to detain him. Chief Education Officer, Doctor Carol Babb also got in the mix. Following the meeting, Minister of Education Patrick Faber said he did not call them to the grounds, but suggested that the reporter was not entirely innocent.

“I did not ask the police to be here. Now if the somebody else in the government thought that it was important for the police to be here, and given the kinda behaviour that Micah had out there, then that is somebody else’s call. We are always able for the protection of the police, but apart from my security officer, I did not ask the police to be present this morning. But I am grateful that they were.”
