Elodio Aragon Jr.

Cabinet minister Elodio Aragon Junior was also asked today about the Immigration investigation. He told News Five that at last Tuesday’s meeting, all ministers agreed to the senate select inquiry. And that the public hearings will expose any misdeeds by both political parties.

“I don’t really have any problem in terms of it going to the senate select committee. What the Prime Minister had mentioned in terms of it going to the…for it to be a select committee of itself, at the end of the day, it will be public. This will be a public inquiry to a large extent and people will be able to see what is happening there and the investigation, to a large extent, will be trashed out in terms of the cases there, etc. So coming from the senate, I have no problem with it; I think the Prime Minister has conceded that there is no issue with that in terms of that. What he opinioned in terms of it going the other way, I mean as he has mentioned, it is not a problem for cabinet. Cabinet has agreed…I think at the last cabinet meeting we sat and it was basically everybody agreed to that. So I don’t see any problem with that and we look forward to looking at that. Because I am quite sure that that inquiry or that senate committee will look at the auditor General’s report in detail and at the end of the day, the public will know exactly what transpired because I’ll be frank with you, it is not only about the U.D.P.; it’s also about the P.U.P. and what they had done. And there is a lot of need for clarification likewise.”
