Is P.U.P. Serious About Reviving Integrity Commission?

John Briceño

But the Integrity Commission has not been functioning for five years. So who receives the reports? P.U.P. Leader John Briceño says that the Secretary of the Commission will be handed the documents in Belmopan where there is office space, but as we said, no members. Briceño believes there are many reasons why PM Barrow and his administration have not enacted the Integrity Commission.

“I think there are certainly many reasons. The official line from the government is that some members that he wanted to appoint did not want to be what they call a politically exposed person, but I don’t think that is a good enough reason. I believe that if the Prime Minister was giving it the proper attention, I am certain that he would be able to find the people that are prepared to put aside their personal concerns and think about Belize and to be able to serve under a very, very important commission like that Integrity Commission.”

“How do you respond to the critique that it is admirable that while you are in Opposition that you are doing this exercise, but it is more imperative upon you to do it when you are in government? Most government members don’t do that when they are in government.”

John Briceño

“Well I can assure you that when we form the next government, whenever the U.D.P. government decides to call the next election, we are going to follow that. As the leader of this party and hopefully the leader of the party at that time, I can assure you that every single member must be required to present their report and if they don’t then we are going to take drastic action with these individuals, but they have to report it.”

On the anniversary of the P.U.P. on September twenty-ninth, the party will announce a twelve-point strategy for good governance and actions that will be taken by the government in waiting.

Did anybody forget the fact that this man’s family amassed its wealth though drug trafficking and collaboration with drug cartels? He might actually be the next leader of our Country!
