Prime Minister says Mayor should have consulted party before public statement

Dean Barrow

But will Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley be sanctioned by his party for his candid position on calling for a Senate Select Commission?  The outspoken head of municipal government has openly gone against a Joint Select Committee to investigate the Immigration Department.  Today, PM Barrow threw the mayor under the bus, saying it was tactless for the mayor to speak publicly before sharing his perspective with the party.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I don’t know whether there will be political consequences.  There will certainly not be any attempt by the party to discipline the mayor.  He is entitled to his view, opinions in the society are sharply divided, and I think we have to respect the way he feels and concede that it’s a position genuinely held and one that we might have to consider, especially seeing that he has taken such a public stance.  What I do, what I do absolutely abhor is the fact that mayor never thought it fit, knowing that Cabinet had taken a position, knowing how prominent an official of the party he is, to let us know that he had difficulties with that position and that in fact he disagreed with the position.  I believe that ought to have been the proper way to proceed and I regret that he did not have the courtesy, he did not treat the party with the respect that I think was required.  But that’s done and dusted.  The fact is we in turn must respect the position he’s taken and we will, I hope in Cabinet, give his position some sort of consideration.”

And since you are his boss and he should have consulted you, shouldn’t you by extension have consulted us before you stole/sinned??
