Intoxicated Cayo Town Council Employees are Suspended as Mayor Apologizes

A pair of employees of the San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town Council is in big trouble tonight, after being caught on video sleeping off a drunk bender after completing official duties in Orange Walk. Mayor of the Twin Towns, Earl Trapp, has told the media that he is disappointed at the behaviour of the pair, who have been suspended for two weeks without pay and warned that they will be terminated if caught in similar actions. According to Trapp, the two were sent in a white Great Wall pick-up truck belonging to the Council to repair Council equipment in Orange Walk. For personal reasons, after completing their work, they headed to the border village of La Union and on their return, the vehicle experienced mechanical problems, forcing them to park it. But they were also apparently intoxicated and allegedly found with beer and groceries inside. Their actions were caught on video and posted on Facebook on Saturday. The Mayor has issued an apology to town residents and to all of Belize on behalf of the disgraced duo.
