P.M. Barrow Insists He Will Not Throw Auditor General under the Bus

Dorothy Bradley

News Five tried today to seek comment from the Office of Auditor General Dorothy Bradley concerning the Immigration Special Audit Reports. But she was unavailable. However, we have received reliable information which suggests that she is seeking legal advice based on the comments made by Prime Minister Dean Barrow and Minister for Immigration Senator Godwin Hulse at their press conference on Thursday.  On the flip side, the Prime Minister thinks that persons named in the audit may also want to seek legal action against G.O.B.’s Auditor General.

“I have great respect for Mrs. Bradley, and nobody should think that this report is the work of Dorothy Bradley, or of Dorothy Bradley singularly; this is obviously a report by committee. Fortunately, she is the Auditor General and so she is the one who gets fixed with responsibility. But I will tell you this: when that preliminary report was leaked, and you made a great deal of it – which again makes my point that the public knew, you know, in terms of that question of that good 2015 general election and the results thereof; you can’t say that people were – anyway let me leave that alone. When that happened, Godwin called me or met with me, spoke to me, complaining about the fact that the preliminary report had been leaked, and that he had not a chance, and his department and his officials, to see it and to comment on it, and asked me to please intervene with the Auditor General, to say to her that as a matter of the correct audit process, they needed officially to be given a copy of the preliminary and invited to comment; they needed for her to meet with them, or her team to meet with them to go over the preliminary. Obviously, that was never done. And without a doubt, not just from Godwin who knows about audits – I’m telling you, that chartered accountant with whom I spoke yesterday, who also knows about audits concurs – the fact that that was not done, is a very serious flaw.”

Every whistle blower in the world ends up this way. Your problem is that you don’t understand that you or those lackeys around you will not live for ever. And even if you escape, every little Barrow after you will be facing some serious existential problems. That has always been the trajectory of this kind of sordid behaviour. El Salvador, Peru, Nicaragua, Guatemala, the Middle East. At some point when people cannot find justice anywhere, they find it elsewhere. You are playing with some serious fire. By the way, George Street won’t be able to help you.

We celebrate our criminals in government. I am proud this report recognizes my more talented thieves by name. As King thief I must be modest and let others honor them in public.
    Trust me.

Stop find all excuses Mr Barrow. The lady did a good job and because she has exposed the truth of corruption in government you want to intimidate her. At least for once stop covering for your minister. I voted for you people because I thought that you were going to do the correct thing but now I see that its just the opposite.

  4. TIRED AND FED UP BZN says:

Dean Barrow is well aware of the illegal stuff that his ministers are doing but not to look embarrassed, he lies for them. They, esp the PM take Belizeans for cunnu munu. They don’t know how to appreciate public officers that arent bias. They are so use to having things done their way. You and your Department did an excellent job Mrs Bradley and the public commends you. Only those stupid belizeans who vote colors won’t open their eyes and see what this UDP govt is doing that is wrong. I use to have confidence in Godwin but he has turned into a brown nose wrong doer just like majority, if not all other politicians. SHAME ON U GODWIN.

The big deal about the report being “leaked” and their problem with it is due to the fact that they would have brushed it under the rug like everything else. Belizeans u all better wake up because indeed the best is yet to come, just not for Belizeans
