P.M. Questions How to Conduct Immigration Investigation

Thursday’s three-hour press conference included a live walk-through presentation by Immigration Officer Diego Bol covering the entire immigration process from start to finish. It was not taped, but it was intended to show the many failsafes put in place in the wake of the Special Audit Report. However, many of the names called in the report are still working in the Immigration and Nationality Service, and in at least two cases, had cases before the Public Service Commission for alleged wrongdoing that fell apart under scrutiny. The question becomes: can the system be trusted when the humans in charge of it are not trustworthy? And can there now be justice for the wrongdoings documented voluminously in the reports? The Prime Minister says accusations do not amount to evidence and natural justice demands that the accused face up to what has been said against them.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“With the greatest will in the world, I would like to see anybody try to make a case against people on the basis of a report that fingers them that they had no chance to see before, that they had no chance to comment on, that they had no chance to try to explain, that they had no chance to, as it were, clear themselves before that report became final, to be accepted by you and by members of the public as gospel; I’m telling you, there is going to be a problem with that.”

Very good Mr Borrow. You are a lawyer, we take your word, but we will tell you that the people will make justice with all of you corrupted ministers. I hope that any new government do not leave this as forgotten but seek a senate investigation to find the culprits of this corruption and bring them to justice so that they pay for wrong doings. They have made too much damage to our passport documents, this document has lost its credibility.
