Ryan Rhaburn Arraigned, Makes Bail on Friesen Kidnapping Charge

Ryan Rhaburn

Another of William Mason’s alleged henchmen has been brought before the court where he was indicted on charges of kidnapping.  After previous issues stymied attempts to charge ranch manager Ryan Rhaburn with the abduction of Canadian-Belizeans Lloyd Friesen and his wife, police succeeded in laying charges against him earlier this week.  As we’ve reported, the Mennonite businessman and his wife were purportedly kidnapped when a deal quickly went sour with William ‘Danny’ Mason over the importation of a large quantity of corn.  Today, the Crown did not object to Supreme Court Justice Troadio Gonzalez granting Rhaburn, represented by attorney Herbert Panton, bail on the charge.  Justice Gonzalez set bail in the sum of eight thousand dollars, plus one surety of the same amount or two sureties of four thousand dollars each.  Rhaburn is to surrender all his travel documents to the clerk of court at Belmopan Magistrate’s Court. He must report to the Belmopan Police Station every Friday until his case is disposed of.  He must also stay away from the victims or the prosecution witnesses and he must attend all his court hearings so ordered by the magistrate at the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court.  Rhaburn returns to court on November tenth, 2016 in Belmopan.
