New School Year, New Haircuts Offered to City Kids

The annual drive to prepare primary school students for the start of the academic calendar by grooming and offering haircuts is just around the corner.  On September third and fourth, children on the south side of Belize City are invited to visit Fabers Road Extension where the back-to-school event is being held.  According to organizer Brian Dena, the aim this year is to be able to provide more students with stationeries in time to start the new school year.

“We are having the back to school trim again and this year we are hoping to see if we can get more school supplies and books and whatever [we need] for the kids as well.  We know that this year the hurricane has come before the time and right now we’ve noticed that there are a lot more needy kids around the neighborhood and stuff so we are trying to put the trimming drive and the hurricane relief together.”

“Now in terms of the number of kids that you guys ordinarily cater to on an annual basis, are you looking forward to having more kids come through this year as opposed to the previous years?”

Brian Dena

“Definitely.  Last year we did the two [hundred and] thirty-five [kids], so this year we are hoping that at least we could get the two hundred and fifty or three hundred kids and again the fact is that we have the mobile van that goes out and picks up kids.  So if there’s any female or any male around the different communities that need to get in contact with us they can call us or call me at 637-5728 and Edmund at 621-6719 and we’ll be happy to send the van out and pick up the kids.”
