“Amateur” investigator in William Mason case to get guidance from superiors

William "Danny" Mason

But on the investigation of William “Danny” Mason, as we’ve reported in the past, several high ranking officers are of the opinion that the lead investigator for the crime involving the kidnapping of several persons and the gruesome beheading of Pastor Llewellyn Lucas is an amateur.

ACP Chester Williams, Regional Commander, Eastern Division South

“I am not going to speak ill about the investigator or his potential; he was placed there by the commissioner to investigate and as the person who is overseeing the prosecution of the case—at least at the magistrate’s court level—I myself, like you said, I am a senior police officer, I was a court prosecutor and I was also the head of Crimes Investigation Branch. So I have a wealth of knowledge in terms of all those areas. My duty now is to ensure that I look at the file and guide the investigator in ensuring that he collects all the relevant evidence that will be needed for us to be able to move forward with this case. So the investigator will be getting full support from myself in terms of guiding him in different areas and what evidence that we need to collect in order to have a successful prosecution.”

Duane Moody

“Sir, but some are of the opinion that there are others officers of senior ranks that have that experience, the wherewithal to investigate a high profile case of this nature.”

“Well like I said that is a matter for the commissioner to answer. From my perspective, I have no issue with it. I will work with the investigator, I will guide him and we must understand that we should always be in a position to train our people. If we continue to rely on those who we know can do it, then when those people leave us, then where will we find ourselves? So it is an opportunity for him to get that level of expertise in terms of dealing with cases like this. Like I said, I will be there to guide him through each and every stage of the investigation.”

Duane Moody

“So you agree that he doesn’t have the experience to address this case?”

ACP Chester Williams

“I’m not saying that he doesn’t have the experience, but he will be gaining experience from it.”

Say what you mean and mean what you say, Chester. In other words, this is part of the set up for this man to go free. Point blank, too many of you will get burnt if Mason starts to sing.

  2. Belizean Pride says:

SERIOUSLY DID THEY JUST SAID A AMATEUR INVESTIGATOR? MEIN THIS IS NOT GOOD NOR IS GOING NO WHERE SOME HIGH PROFILE MINISTER HAS ALREADY STARTED TO PULL STRING AND THE AMATEUR IS PLAYING THE GAME ALONG. MEIN NOT A SURPRISE TO HEAR IT BUT A DISRACE TO KEEP HEARING IT.

  3. Hatari says:

This is so classic! Put an inexperienced rookie investigator in charge of a major case that is libel to spill the beans on a bunch of corrupt politicians. Oh yeah, that should be the trick! This is disgusting and proves that the Compol is just a political puppet. Wake up People!
