14 Cases Called Up for Bail Hearing

Victor Mason Gibbs

As many as fourteen bail applications were heard today; there were no objections to eleven, but in the case of the remaining three sensational cases, there were strenuous objections presented. Addison Gillett, the former driver of the former COMPOL, Crispin Jefferies, received Supreme Court bail by Justice Troadio Gonzalez in the sum of eight thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount. Gillett is accused of aggravated assault with a gun and rape of a minor in Belmopan. It is alleged he grabbed the minor in broad daylight, took her to a hotel where he dragged her up the stairs and then raped her at gunpoint. Then there was the bail hearing of Victor Mason Gibbs, the alleged drunken driver who on Saturday, July thirtieth, 2016 caused the death of public officer, Emily Guy. She was handing out the Watch Tower pamphlets when she was crushed. Guy was taken to the K.H.M.H. where one of her feet was amputated, but she succumbed to her injuries. Gibbs is facing manslaughter charges. He also received bail of eight thousand dollars and has to surrender his travel documents, must report to the police station every Friday and is not to interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses nor must he commit any other offense.
