CEMO Partners with Solid Waste Management Authority to Collect Garbage

Most places in the city and elsewhere are still littered with garbage following the passage of Hurricane Earl.  CEMO is working along with the Solid Waste Management Authority and is asking residents to take out their garbage because collection of the debris will begin in earnest early next week.

Phillip Willoughby, CEMO

“Right now I take this opportunity to say I will exercise the PR aspect of it, encouraging at this time homeowners to put out their waste so that we can better and properly coordinate the collection of those waste. I know that again in our briefing this morning, honorable Anthony Martinez mentioned that there will be team designated from his side to deal with the demolition and removal of these homes as well as the property. So that will be absorbed from that angle through that initiative.”

“Are you guys taking a cessation on the collection of garbage right now so that everybody can synchronize, put out their garbage and then scoop it all up next week?”

“Yes that is why I am using this medium to say just that. Kindly put out your waste and the city will have to deal with the removal of those waste.”

Reporter

“How many truck loads so far?”

Phillip Willoughby

“I can’t say. I haven’t visited the transfer station since this afternoon, but I know Engineer Carrillo, who is doing the coordination on the solid waste management authority side has those figures. I haven’t been briefed for today as yet so I can’t say, but I know that the bulldozers are up there and they are spreading and pushing the waste that was transported over that period of time and continues to go there.”
