Bradley Says Police Evidence is Non-Existent

Richard “Dickie” Bradley

He maintains that it’s all about optics – pointing out that while Ferguson has been charged for conspiring to kidnap Pastor Lucas and another man, she has not been charged with conspiring to kill Lucas even though Police are saying that kidnapping led to Pastor Lucas being brutally murdered.

Richard “Dickie” Bradley, Attorney for Melissa Ferguson

“The police, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Mister Russell Blackett in the presence of Mister Mason went to the residence where she was and they requested the backup key, the duplicate key to the vehicle. She later received a text or phone call…so is that a person who took part in a crime and is there and they bring one of the principals of the crime and he doesn’t wink or signal or say darling guess what, beat it. The whole thing clearly is in her favor.  You heard the argument; you saw that even the facts of the case were nonexistent and the only thing they could do is put Pastor Lue’s name on the charge sheet and another name. There is nothing. Is that the behavior of somebody who is conspiring to kidnap a priest? Man if she is charged for conspiracy to kidnap the person and then the person dies, why is she not charged for conspiracy to commit the murder as well? Yo just want to kidnap right soh soh soh. So I’m glad you were in court; you saw that something had gone wrong; that there is nothing against this woman. The magistrate had to say that the lawyer is correct; there is no facts at all in here. To come back and say that you are adding on Pastor Lucas name and the other person’s name; that is not the facts of the case. The facts of the case must be…the Chief Justice has put in place; you heard the prosecutor attacking the procedure for the rules of the court. The procedure is when you charge anybody, you give them their charge sheet and a brief summary of the facts as to why you are charging them. That is why there were problems in relation to the other matters in this same court with another magistrate. The same thing happened. You heard me say to the magistrate, I am not asking you to dismiss this charge because there is nothing. I am just saying that on the allegation of conspiracy to commit kidnapping, the laws of this country allows you to grant bail to any person accused of that crime. Our freedom is sacrosanct; you don’t punish people because the police say, “oh ih neva come in as quick as ih coudla mi come in.” Bail is not to punish anybody.”

We’ll have more on Ferguson’s arrest later in the newscast.
