Taiwanese Ambassador Hands Over $5 Million Check to G.O.B.

Last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs showed off Villa Fiore, which will serve as the Belize City offices of the Ministry as well as the offices of the Prime Minister and the Special Envoy. The three-storey multi-million dollar building located on the seafront was acquired through the Government of Taiwan. Building on that, G.O.B. also announced today that it has received a grant of ten million Belize dollars from Taiwan’s 2016 Bilateral Cooperation Program.  The money will be used primarily in the development of transportation infrastructure as well as key infrastructure projects, including the Belize City Southside Poverty Alleviation Project Phase Two, the extension of the Southern Highway – Golden Stream, Jalacte to the Guatemalan Border in the Toledo District, and for the Santa Elena/San Ignacio Downtown Bypass Road Project.
