Witness Statement Provides Vivid Details of Harrowing Kidnapping

Llewellyn Lucas

Tonight, fresh details have come to light on the beheading of Pastor Llewellyn Lucas over the weekend in one of the most heinous crimes in Belize. In the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith, the prosecution, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, disclosed new information surrounding the bizarre murder. Three pastors were in fact kidnapped and blindfolded on Friday and taken to the farm of William Mason, the Guyanese/Canadian national, who is at the center of the macabre decapitation.  Two of the preachers were released, but Lucas met a most horrific death. The three had gone to the Belmopan house of Mason to collect money for a Mennonite businessman, and this is where their nightmare started. News Five’s Isani Cayetano reports.

The kidnapping of three men, including Pastor Llewellyn Lucas and American national David Dodd, along with a third, unnamed individual, who we are reliably informed is Alvis Wright, took place at the secluded residence of businessman William Mason on Friday around midday.  In a statement provided to police following the incident, Dodd said that he visited the home in the Intelco area of Belmopan where four men escorted them to the bathroom and subsequently proceeded to bound and blindfold them.  They were then placed inside a vehicle and taken on a thirty-minute journey.  The vehicle eventually came to a stop and Dodd recalled breathing in the stench of animal feces.  When the blindfold was removed, Dodd realized that he was in the presence of five men, including Mason, but could not account for Lucas’ whereabouts.  Mason then allegedly threatened Dodd and Wright, telling them, “that they are to go straight out of the farm.” They were then given directions to make their way off the property and told, “to pretend as if today never occurred.” The men then exited the ranch, turned right and proceeded on foot to the Democracia junction.

Several hours later, Sergeant Solomon Westby, an officer attached to the Belmopan Police Formation, was socializing at an establishment and noticed when Mason and his henchmen arrived at that location.  Knowing that Mason was wanted for questioning, Westby called the Belmopan Police Station for backup.  When the team of officers arrived at the bar, Mason and the men were informed that a search of their persons would be conducted.  While the frisk turned up a licensed nine millimeter firearm belonging to Mason, the other men were clean.  They were then informed that a search of the vehicle would be conducted and that’s when Mason began acting suspiciously.  He told police that he was unable to locate the keys to the black Ford F150 pickup.  Nonetheless, the officers were able to unlock the tailgate and lift the cover of the pan and that’s when they observed a black bucket.  They continued the search and inside the container found a crocus sack with what appeared to be a human head.  The men were then informed of their arrest and Mirandized.

During a press conference held on Monday, Acting Commissioner of Police Russell Blackett admitted that the gruesome discovery was simply a matter of happenstance, despite pursuing Mason for questioning in connection with an unrelated incident.

“Had it not been we were conducting this investigation and were tracking this man, trying to locate him, there is a possibility [that] we would have been investigating a missing person’s report.  So I would say by the stroke of luck we stumbled upon this and I am glad we did.”

This should be a very interesting case. Politics, passports, birth certificates, gun licenses, kidnapping, beheading, sounds like all of the GOB agencies are going to get in on this one. The politicians are already shining up their dancing shoes and practicing their “Me no know” responses. And I am sure that the PD will screw up the evidence like they always do. How about bail? Bond him out so he can run away, that might be the easiest way to make this disappear.

William Mason need to be eliminated.I would do it for free. This shit needs to stop.

  3. farmer says:

the case will fall. Consequently Mason will be contracted by government to be national chief executor and capital punishment will shift from hanging to beheading…

  4. Lis says:

That’s the problem, too many crooks in Belize. From the Prime Minister all the way down. That’s why this murderer will probably never be brought to justice. He’s got too many people in his pocket.
    Throw him to the crocodiles….

  5. Fran says:

Why not take the jerk to the top of Altun Ha and behead him as well — peace offering to the gods to wash the stench of corruption that is stifling the GOB agencies.
