The banking system is among several private and public institutions that deal with highly confidential or very sensitive personal information.  In this case, it is restricted data regarding individual and business finances.  For the past two days, representatives of various companies have been meeting to discuss information security with consultants from Gulf Business Machines.  GBM is the leading provider of information technology solutions in the region.  As an ally of IBM, the company has been integral in the safeguarding of information networks and databases and representatives are in Belize to update the financial sector on new ways to secure your personal financial information.

“Well we have participation from most of the banks, Central Bank of Belize, Belize Bank, Atlantic Bank, Heritage Bank.  We also have companies such as Belize Sugar Industries, SpeedNet, we also have from all kinds of companies.  So they’re here to listen to what new software we have to offer that can help them to do better and more easily their jobs.”
