B.T.B. Hosts Digital Branding Conference

Day one of a two-day conference on digital branding took started this afternoon at the Biltmore Plaza in Belize City. The Belize Tourism Board is hosting the country’s second annual Digital Marketing Summit as an initiative to provide tourism stakeholders and partners with the tools to effectively and efficiently increase their presence and online marketing efforts. Throughout the course of the two days, participants will learn more about digital content strategy, creative strategy, travel trade in digital, insights and video marketing. Digital Marketing Manager of the B.T.B., Maynor Larrieu, told News Five that the sessions will assist participants with the knowhow to implement best practices to meet their individual marketing goals.

“We started last year with a one-day full summit event and this year, it’s grown to a half day session which is more a get your hands dirty with digital, bring your laptops and we are going to walk you through in terms of what you should be doing and building your brand digital. And the main objective is to inspire stakeholders to do more with the technology available in this day and age and there is much more that you can do with the little resources you have. I think one of the main points is that content creation is key and a lot of people know about it, but they don’t really know how to do it. And again, this summit helps to inspire people to do a lot more for themselves and you know a lot of times when you look at the digital marketing spectrum in Belize, specifically the tourism industry, it is really a big gap between those that are doing really good things and those that are trying to do something and don’t know the path. So the idea of this is to provide the leadership digitally from the B.T.B. who has the knowhow and to inspire people to do more because then we all become a more competitive destination.”

“So it is not really targeting local, but international customers…these partners that are here it allows them to target their international customers so that they can come in and generate more funds for them?”

“Well it’s both. What’s local is international and vice versa. So whatever they would do for their international market and digital branding and brand reputation will definitely help them locally.”

 

Some of the presenters for the summit include: David Scott Junior of Gravity Media; Raul Mamani, who is the Senior Business Development of Expedia and Juan Miguel Moreno of the Florida Institute of Management-Tourism Advisory.
