North Side Cops Meet Residents of Pickstock

The Belize Police Department continues to ramp up its community policing efforts, primarily by going out and meeting people – finding out their concerns and just generally showing them a more human, approachable aspect of the Police. The murder statistics may not necessarily reflect the effectiveness of the initiative, but top cops countrywide swear by it. And that’s why police officers from the Eastern Division North were on the streets today, in the Pickstock Division.  Press Officer Fitzroy Yearwood told News Five it’s all about staying on top of things.

“We have a new commander at Precinct Three in the person of Superintendent Romero who was head CIB Eastern Division, so he will be out in the Pickstock Area on Victoria Street doing a Meet & Greet. Also we have Asst. Supt. Ciau who was also at CIB support here at Precinct Three. He will be joined out there with other officers from Precinct Four in the form of Inspector Gordon and Police officers from both Precincts three and Four Community Policing Units. It’s our usual Wednesday Meet and Greet where we go and try to reach out to the public to hear their concerns and so forth, but it’s an introduction for Mr. Romero because I don’t believe that he has been on one of these since we re-embarked on our meet and greet sessions.  We will not let down our guard. We keep our patrols vigilant. Our strike teams are always visible. We try our best to protect our people in the entire city of Belize but especially those that reside in Precinct Three, Four and the other areas of Eastern Division North. As I said we go out there on a daily basis and based on what we hear from them we make our recommendations to our commander, operations and from there it trickles down to the officers on the ground.”
