Sports Council Receives Much Needed Donation Ahead of CODICADER Games

With the start of the 2016 CODICADER Games less than three days away, final preparations are being made to ensure that Team Belize maintains the best chance of excelling in the regional competition.  That being said, the National Sports Council is busy tying up loose ends logistically, both for the visiting teams, as well as local participants, ahead of Thursday’s opening ceremony.  This morning, the organization received a generous donation from ASR/B.S.I. in the form of a check for twelve thousand, five hundred dollars.  That sum will be used to cover the cost of expenses related to the upcoming games.

Ritchel Dominguez, Director, National Sports Council

“What has happened is that we have asked ASR to come onboard with us in providing sweat suits and uniforms for our Belizean teams and we are glad today to say that ASR has fulfilled that part in doing the sweat suits and uniforms for the athletes of Belize.  So the Belize team is ready and we have the sweat suits that should be delivered this evening and I can say that the Belize teams have their uniforms and everything ready to go.”

“I know you guys are down to the wire with regards to final preparations for the upcoming games.  Last week, BWS gave a contribution of five thousand, this week it’s ASR/B.S.I.   Have you guys met your financial quota, in terms of being able to afford the games being hosted in Belize?”

Ritchel Dominguez

“Well we have not met exactly our total figure but we are working on it and we have some other partners and we are still waiting on them to come onboard to give us what we have asked them for.  There were some companies we were thinking that they would have jumped onboard earlier or they would have given us more.  They have not, but we still expect them to come onboard before the competition is over.”

“How far does this bring you in terms of trying to reach your financial quota?”

Ritchel Dominguez

“Well I can say that we are almost there.  We are fallings short by a little bit but we go ahead hoping that the people, the companies that we have asked to come onboard will come onboard at the end of the day.”

Reporter

“Do you have a figure?”

Ritchel Dominguez

“No I don’t.  We have the accountant working on getting the figures to the last dollar for us at this time so that we can know where we are in the next day or so.”
