Will the PUP Count Lord Ashcroft as an Ally?

John Briceno

And then there’s the man who is walking away with the half a billion dollar payout. Lord Ashcroft has been a messiah and a pariah, a friend and a fiend depending on political timing and political convenience. Still, he’s allegedly been a player in every recent election – on one side or the other or both. At a press conference on Thursday, P.U.P. Leader John Briceño was asked if Ashcroft would be seen as a potential ally for the Opposition in the days ahead.

John Briceño, P.U.P. Leader

“Our alliance is with the Belizean people. We are going to fight to have the Belizean people on our side. When it comes to individuals – whosoever that individual is – it could be Mr. Ashcroft, it could be you, it could be the man on the street…if they want to make a donation to this Party for us to be able to get into government and try to correct all the wrong that the U.D.P. does, that is something we’re going to take a look at. But nobody…NOBODY…can give us any money and make any demands on the People’s United Party and I want to make that abundantly clear to you and to everybody .”

Very good Johnny. Your compromi is with us , the Belizean people, PUP and U D P and any other P .
No doner should make demands for their contribution. It they want to contribute is because they want the PUP to fix things in the country. Things like : improve the health system. improve the justice system, better conditions and opportunities i agriculture, a true free education, improve the facilities of the police and B D F so they can do better job. create a ministry of investigation apart from the police, ( this department should have people trained as investigators capable of collecting evidence for prosecution) and have trained layers as prosecutors in all magistrate courts in all districts. And , of course there are the other side of things such as: infractructure, etc.
