Drug Running San Felipe Resident Evades Checkpoint

Selvyn Tillett

On Sunday morning as Customs Officers and B.D.F. soldiers conducted a checkpoint in the Blue Creek community, they intercepted a Mazda pickup truck, driven at the time by San Felipe resident Juan Carlos Molina. As the authorities attempted to search the vehicle, Molina sped off, leaving behind a bag containing suspected cannabis. The drugs weighed in at over five pounds and police say that they are now looking for Molina, who is on the lam.

“At about nine a.m., a red Mazda pickup, license plate OWC18453 approached the checkpoint. The driver was identified as one Juan Carlos Molina of San Felipe Village. Molina was informed that his vehicle was to be searched and then he sped off. Customs set chase and that’s when Molina threw a black plastic bag out of the moving vehicle. The bag was recovered, handed over to the Orange Walk police; it contained seven bags of suspected marijuana. The drugs were all weighed in front of a justice of the peace and amounted to two thousand two hundred and seventy-five grams. At this moment police are looking for Mister Juan Molina.”

“Now is that area known for illegal activity?”

ASP Selvyn Tillett

“That area is, as you may know, close to the Mexican border so we expect that many illegal activities happening along that area.

“This operation was one of the many that you guys do in that area?”
