Nikolai James to Stand Trial for Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with Minor

Nikolai James

Today, a preliminary inquiry determined that a Belize City security guard will have to stand trial at the Supreme Court for the offense of unlawful sexual intercourse of a girl who was fifteen years old at the time of the incident. Twenty-seven year old Nikolai James is accused of carnal knowledge and is to be tried in the next session of the Supreme Court set to commence on October fourth, 2016.  James was represented in the PI by attorney Oscar Selgado who chose not to challenge any of the evidence presented by the prosecutor, Inspector Egbert Castillo.  Castillo submitted as many as ten statements including one from the victim and a medical legal form stating that the minor was carnally known.  James was able to go home since his Supreme Court bail granted in April 2015 is still valid.  The arrest of James came after the high school student reported to police that on April eighth, 2015 he had sexually abused her referring to him as her “boyfriend”. The mother became aware of the relationship with James after the student did not come home one day. A report was made to the police and James was arrested a week later.
