An Interregional Tourism Campaign is Launched in Central America

A new interregional tourism campaign was unveiled simultaneously across seven Central American countries this morning.  Under the banner “Central America is Yours, Enjoy it”, the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, in partnership with the Belize Tourism Board and B.T.I.A., launched the campaign locally.  The purpose is to encourage travel within the region by motivating up to half a million internet users to participate in the initiative.  Last year, tourism in Central America spiked by six point nine percent, earning roughly seventeen billion U.S. dollars with the inclusion of the Dominican Republic.  C.E.O. in the Ministry of Tourism, Yashin Dujon was present at today’s event.

“This campaign was put together collaboratively to encourage the regional semi-domestic travel and growth within the sector.  It’s unique to know that throughout Central America this year that there’s been a large growth rate of approximately four percent as the presentation showed.  But, however, that was a total of fifteen million travelers throughout the region.  What that means or what is noteworthy of this is that four point one million of the fifteen million people who traveled regionally last year were actually Central Americans.  Today’s launch, really, is focused on highlighting this major campaign and the campaign is really using the target market of Central America to promote interregional travel.  The campaign seeks to showcase the uniqueness and the authenticity and the value of the product that we the Central American countries have put together as a tourism product.  The unique regional unified marketing brand Central America “So small, yet so big” has been pushed and promoted throughout this and this is a continued effort to promote the region, Belize included, as a unified product.”
