Belizean Car Dealers are Victims in Fatal RTA in Houston

Sostenes Tamay

A two-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of W. Mount Houston in northwest Harris County has left one Belizean dead and another hospitalized in the U.S.  Car dealers, Lennox “DJ Tambran” Young, and Sostenes Tamay from Corozal were along with a third person from Cayo when a Ford pickup truck crashed into the right side of a black Pathfinder SUV, driven at the time by Young. Tamay died on the spot, while Young suffered injuries to his arm and was rushed to the nearest hospital and is in a stable condition. The other Belizean, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, escaped unhurt. Today, News Five spoke with Young’s brother, Leroy, who told us that the men were to leave Houston today en route to Belize.

Leroy Young, Brother of Accident Victim

“About 8:10 this morning, I got a call from one of my friends in the states and said that my brother was involved in a car accident and that he was critical. I made some calls and I found out that he is not critical. He hurt his hand, but a passenger that was with him; two guys were traveling with him; one died, Mister Tamai from Corozal, and Mister August from Cayo, he is unhurt. So that’s what they told me this morning.”

Leroy Young

“Well I wasn’t there, but from my understanding, he went to buy some parts…normal stuff these guys do. These car dealers they get their vehicles and they get their parts when they are ready to come back. I don’t know what happened, but they say they crashed into my brother.”

Duane Moody

“How long was he there?”

Leroy Young

“He was there for three weeks. He was to come in Thursday for my birthday cause my birthday is on Thursday. So he said he would leave this morning and be in Belize by Thursday for my birthday.”

Duane Moody

“So do you believe he was on his way back to Belize when this happened?”

Lennox “DJ Tambran” Young

Leroy Young

“Yes, he was gathering his parts and getting ready to come back…getting his parts for the vehicle that he bought, but unfortunately that happened.”

Duane Moody

“How is he doing now?”

Leroy Young

“Well, what they call me from Houston, they said that he is doing well. Only his hand is broken, Mister August is okay. And only Mister Tamai, unfortunately he died on the scene noh.”
