Another Leaked Video Shows Recent B.D.F./GAF Confrontation on Sarstoon

Two weeks ago, we aired a video of an encounter between the Belize Defence Force and the Guatemalan Armed Forces in the Sarstoon in which the B.D.F. and the police were caught off guard in dealing with the Guatemalan military and at least one sergeant was later demoted. But there has been little official information as to what is really happening in the Sarstoon since Guatemala began to fully exert sovereignty over the entire river. In fact, even less has actually been seen. Today, another video was leaked that provides a clear account of what our sources say was a very recent incident. There is no information as to how often these incidents occur but it appears that a pattern has now developed.  The amateur footage shows an encounter between the B.D.F. and the GAF and while the precise date is yet to be confirmed, the Metal Shark vessel is only of recent being deployed to the Sarstoon.  During the encounter, a GAF officer tells the B.D.F. to “Respecte el Protocolo”, in English, to respect the protocol. The video shows not one, but two vessels being blocked by the Guatemalan Armed Forces, obstructing a B.D.F. vessel within the Sarstoon. The B.D.F. was forced back clearly signaling that the GAF is free to move within the Sarstoon while the B.D.F. is restricted movement within its own territory.

  2. Hatari says:

Oh don’t worry folks . . . Peel Head and Uncle Remus will diplomatically solve the problem! Yeah right! You don’t really believe that do you? Not advocating military action because we wouldn’t stand a chance with that . . . but just pointing out reality. The Guats control the Sarstoon and have their eyes on the Chiquibul.

  3. Elgin Martinez says:

If we had good Leadership in the Jewel.Belize could have whip the living hell out of Guatemala strategically using Air Support. But we don’t have the logistics.

  4. Peter says:

  5. Earl Gabb says:

So, where is the Brits in all this? One of the outgoing agreements as a former British colony with a longstanding British- Guatemala dispute must contain some level of British territorial protection. One cannot depend on the USA in this situation as they have too much economic interest at stake. The Diaspora need to speak on the World Stage.
