Thousands of Indigenous People Protest in Guatemala

While the Guatemalan military continues to outmanoeuvre the B.D.F. in the Sarstoon River, on the ground in Guatemala, President Jimmy Morales is facing huge protests. Today, thousands of indigenous people have blocked fourteen roads. The Guatemalan National Police say they are willing to use any method necessary to ensure law and order in the City. The National Coordinator of Peasant Organizations says they intend to block at least twenty-six major roads as they seek to bring pressure on the government to provide electricity, cease political persecution against human rights defenders and distribute land to peasants.
