Andy Bustillos Arraigned for Double Murder of Ex-common-Law and Sister-In-Law

After spending just over a week recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, on Monday afternoon, thirty-one year old Andy Bustillos was arrested and charged for the double murder of his ex-common-law wife, Miriam Mai and her sister-in-law, Daisy Miralda. On April thirtieth, Bustillos entered Betty’s Salon in Santa Elena to rekindle his relationship with Mai; she refused and the Anchor Security guard then opened fire, killing Miralda before taking aim at patrons who escaped uninjured. He then shot and killed Mai before turning the licensed nine-millimeter pistol on himself. Bustillos had been hospitalized at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital under police guard. He was arraigned this morning in the San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court for two counts of murder. Western regional Commander Senior Superintendent Andrew Ramirez spoke to News Five following the arraignment.

Sr. Supt. Andrew Ramirez, Western regional Commander, Police Department

“The guy, Andy Bustillos was brought before the magistrate, Mister Ford, this morning where he was read two counts of murder. No plea was taken and he was subsequently remanded until July eighth, 2016. The matter of him pointing the gun at other persons within the premises; that charge of aggravated assault will be levied upon him at the next arraignment, but on the substantive charge of murder, which has been placed on him, which will have him in custody until the eighth of July.”

“Now sir, in reference to the firearm that he had, was that licensed to him? Is there any charges for that firearm?”

Sr. Supt. Andrew Ramirez

“What happen is that the company, Anchor Security Services, the firearm is registered under the company’s gun license. And he, Andy Bustillos, was also a license security guard to be armed, but not during that process of the killing.”

News Five understands that the bullet penetrated Bustillos temple and exited through his left eye. He subsequently lost his vision in both eyes.
