Belize City Taximan to Stand Trial for Attempted Murder

Frank Brown

A Belize City taxi driver will stand trial in the June session of the Supreme Court for the attempted murder of a taxi operator. At the end of a preliminary inquiry today, the court found that there is enough evidence to commit Frank Brown for the June thirtieth, 2016 attempted murder of thirty-one year old taxi operator, Albert Castro, which occurred on Faber’s Road, Belize City. Brown did not challenge any of the prosecution’s evidence including a statement from Castro who lived to tell the tale of the shooting. More than ten other statements were also tendered into evidence.  Castro was shot to the head while he was driving his Mazda car from the direction of the George Price Highway heading towards Central American Boulevard. Two men on bicycles approached his car and opened fire while he was on Faber’s Road and Watermelon Street.  Travelling with Castro at the time was a female who ran out of the car and managed to make it home uninjured. When police processed the scene, they found bullet holes on the car.
