British National Shot During Alleged Robbery Attempt

David Taylor

He was arrested in 2012 on charges of unnatural sex with a minor, but tonight British national David Taylor is recovering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Taylor was at his home in Biscayne on the Phillip Goldson Highway when he was shot as he resisted what Police believe was an attempt by two men to rob him. He was hit in the chest as he struggled with an armed assailant who was trying to subdue him. The incident happened at around eight while Taylor was at home alone. Police were alerted only because the injured Taylor managed to escape his would-be-robbers, run inside his home and shout to his neighbours for help.

“Ladyville CIB responded to a distress call at Mile twenty-six and three/quarters Phillip Goldson Highway, Biscayne Village. When they arrived they observed in the living room of a concrete bungalow dwelling structure a clear descent male person with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his chest area. David Richard Taylor, Belizean labourer of twenty-six and three/quarter mile Phillip Goldson reported that he was at home alone when a white SUV drove into his narrow driveway and while approaching the vehicle a fair-skinned person and a dark skin person came out of the vehicle. The dark skinned person was armed with what appeared to be a pistol. They ordered him to the ground. He refused to go on the ground and grabbed the pistol and a struggle ensued whereby a shot went off. He received a shot to his chest and he was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital by Police. His condition is listed as stable. The scene was processed and the matter is under investigation.”

Police believe that the two men in the SUV intended to rob David Taylor. They were long gone by the time officers arrived at the location.
