Police Say They Didn’t Shoot ‘Bounty.’ So who did?

The unintentional shooting of self-employed DVD salesman Jamal Young, presumably by officers in pursuit of a fleeing vehicle, remains a whodunit mystery; at least within the Belize Police Department.  That’s because Young is confident that he would be able to positively identify that officer in an ID parade.  ‘Bounty’, as he is popularly known, was shot in the left leg on Saturday afternoon while riding along Mahogany Street.  It turns out that a team of policemen were giving chase to the speeding vehicle when several shots were reportedly fired.  During the resulting confusion Young was injured prior to being knocked off his motorcycle.  While a formal report is yet to be released, News Five understands that an internal investigation into the incident is presently underway.  Ironically, that probe doesn’t seem to include a statement from the victim of the shooting.  According to Young, no one from the department has visited him to inquire about what took place during the incident.  Despite the presence of the Gang Suppression Unit, who happened upon the scene of the shooting, they are not claiming responsibility for the wanton gunfire.  So, who shot Jamal Young in front of the Mahogany Street Precinct?
