FFB General Secretary Also Under Attack

Marlon Kuylen

The trifecta, which includes First Vice President Sergio Chuc and Cruz Gamez, also has an issue with Michael Blease as General Secretary.  Not only is his role viewed as ineffective, but Kuylen has gone on record to say that they have suggested to Vicente on previous occasions to have Blease replaced.  That suggestion, according to Kuylen, was taken as an insult.

Marlon Kuylen, Executive, FFB

“We approached the president and we told him that we didn’t think the General Secretary was capable enough of running the federation and that we needed to make a change there.  Keep him in another capacity but we need to bring somebody professional in to run the show for us.  He took it personal and what happened is that at the beginning we all had portfolios to run but then we started getting stifled because he did not like that we were opposing his decisions and way of doing business or running the federation.  Sad to say the relationship got worse and worse and then he started running the federation on his own.  We were not being involved in a lot of the decision making.  We barely had meetings and when we made our resolutions at these meetings they weren’t carried out.”

“The executive has the right to make executive decisions and I have the responsibility of making administrative decisions along with the General Secretary.  Now when the executive makes a decision they pass that on to me, but when it comes to the ground, when it comes to implementing those.  There are times when administrative decisions and adjustments have to be made and that is my job to make those administrative decisions.  It is not to hurt football, it is not to take away from what the executive would be saying.  So that when we come back to another executive meeting we would then explain the reason we made the administrative adjustments.”

While it is not expected that F.F.B.’s internal squabbles will be brought up during the election in Switzerland, it is believed that Vicente will take that opportunity to meet with officials from CONCACAF in respect of the meetings held in Belize last Thursday.
