Francisco Gomez Convicted for Sexual Assault of 11 Year Old

Francisco Gomez

While Johnson is free, a resident of Boston Village in the Belize District, Francisco Gomez, aka “Indiana” will be spending time behind bars. Gomez was convicted this morning of allegations made by an eleven-year old primary school girl of sexual assault of an indecent nature, assault and using threatening words against her.  In trial, the minor provided details of the incident that happened last April. She said that Gomez entered the house while her grandmother was asleep and took a chair and sat next to her as she watched television. The minor was unshaken in her testimony, saying that when she got up, he patted her on her rear, tried to kiss her and when she struggled with him he threatened he to kill her and then throw her body into the creek if she told anyone.  The child’s mother was quickly alerted by two pastors who were outside the house. Gomez denied the allegations, but Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith told him she did not believe his story and found him guilty.  Gomez was sentenced to three years for the sexual assault, and two six months imprisonment each for common assault and threatening words, which are to run concurrently so Gomez will serve three years only.   In 2007, Gomez was convicted of aggravated assault and fined seven hundred dollars; and in 2013, he was found guilty of wounding.
