Yhony Rosado’s Tire Shop Back in Business

Yhony Rosado’s tire shop on the Phillip Goldson Highway is back open. On January twenty-sixth Econo Tires was closed down by City Council employees over some confusion about a trade license. Rosado had paid for his, but he had not been given the printed copy, which by law must be displayed in any registered business. At the time, the very vocal tour operator claimed political victimization, since he had been operating for eight months, and was closed down one day after he condemned G.O.B. on national television. Whether it was or not, he’s open for business and today, he told us that everything is back on track.

Yhony Rosado, Owner, Econo Tires

“After the news aired that the tire shop was closed through the media houses, City Council found it fit that I could go ahead and resume business, open my tire shop as usual until they actually work the paper works, which is the certificate. But the City Council give us the okay to open the tire shop, thanks to the media.”

“Did they explain to you why it was that they shut it down?”

“They said that if your business does not have the certificate, you shouldn’t open your business. But at no time did they explain that to me before. I was doing business, I registered the business, opened the business; I was paying for the trade license so I was doing business as usual. But some of the officials at City Council said it wasn’t fit. But I must say that if I knew I was doing something wrong, they should have come and approached me and not close the business because we need to work, we need to have business open. So again, the power of the media and the power to be on the right shoes…I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I was just opening business to make money.”

“So when are you expecting to get that trade license certificate and so on?”

Yhony Rosado

“Well right now they just give me a bill. Since I open the shop before they give me the trade license, I think they give me a bill of nine hundred dollars, like a penalty of nine hundred dollars and the trade license is for three hundred dollars. So I should be paying it today.”

  1. WTF says:

$900.00 fine….Extortion! plain and simple…Many times you pay for your trade license and you go to City Council and they say the certificates are not ready, but it is no problem if you have a receipt.

City council loves to play games with trade licenses and fines. They just don’t follow the rules and just make you pay whatever they want to charge you.
If you speak out about it they will cancel your license and you lose your business. That is why people just shut up and pay and that is why City Council gets away with it. Yhony knows what’s going on but he wants to keep his business and I don’t blame him.
