Attorney Oscar Selgado Says Vasquez Will Walk on Murder Charge

Bert Vasquez

While Vasquez is accused of violent and heinous sexual offences, by far the more serious charge is for the murder of Jasmine Lowe. Lowe’s decomposed body was discovered days after she was reported missing and shortly after, Vasquez was arrested for the crime. It’s an interesting case since a medical examination on Lowe’s body could not determine a cause of death. Selgado says for that reason, and because the Police have no evidence, this case will be a slam dunk.

Oscar Salgado, Attorney for Bert Vasquez

“Defense attorneys crave those opportunities, and having looked at what the media was saying at the time when now Sr. Supt. Chester Williams went out to the media and hailed that he had the person, had the murderer and he had so much evidence it was all so much bull. There is no such evidence before the Court. There is no such evidence in the hands of the Police. As a matter of fact all that the Police has is a very thin line of circumstantial evidence and the case law is saying that the threshold upon which circumstantial evidence can be used to convict will not be met in this case. It will not be met.”

“The Police had said that they had material evidence which they had found on Bert Vasquez. That is not so?”

Oscar Salgado

“All of that is bollocks. All of that is bollocks. None of that is in the disclosure, and none of that is before the defence attorneys. So what the Police said in the press conferences was just either to please public opinion, to satisfy public outrage at the time or merely shouting wolf.”

“We know that you have been very successful in the past fighting murder cases. Do you feel this will be one of those…that your client will be set free based on what you’ve seen so far?”

Oscar Salgado

“I have in 2015 won eight murder cases consecutively. There is no other attorney in the history books in Belize who has won eight murder cases in one calendar year. And I have done so because I prepare my case work, I do my groundwork, and I am certain, I am confident as a matter of fact that with Bert Vasquez’s murder charge he will be set free.”

“there is no other attorney in the history books in Belize who has won eight murder cases in one calendar year” that could be true but God knows that the money probably won from all this murders are blood money. The families that are left with out justice whenever you win might be seeking the best Lawyer in the entire world with id God. So congrats with you’re achievement but really if I would be ever a attorney I would fight for the victims family not for the murderers side. Remember Mr. Oscar the Lord is watching you from above not from the witness stand.
I feel very sad when people like you happily bust the achievements from the wrong lane. Wouldn’t it be nicer than to have been the other way. You saying I’m the only one trying to win all the victims cases in Belize would be more awesome than what you said.
It’s just my point of view but really it’s sad when a person talks like that on news media.

If I ever get charged for murder (guilty or not) I’ll know who to call.

Oscar Salgado and your client, Bert Vasquez don’t deserve the air you breathe! I hope you both will be prepared to serve the sentence that WILL be placed upon you someday!! Justice will prevail!!!

Mr Salvador…..you make your. Living setting murderers free. Is the government’s payment or your pay for hire worth your part in freeing the scum who prey on the innocent. You sir have a day of judgement coming and you must know all the money in the world or bragging you now do will have no weight in the trial you will face. Thank God you have a day of judgement coming with your maker and there will be no forgiveness for you. I imagine Jasmine and all the others you have cheated justice from will be there to watch your sentence which will be even worse than those you have helped escape paying for what they have done. You sir have no conscience…..money and your picture in the news are the fame you seek. It is a pattern in life…what goes around….comes around. Always seems to come in ways you least expect.

It seems to be a most honorable feat to win murder cases. It is a game in the midst of the reality world. People are hurt by seeing their loved ones murdered, there are the lawyers doing their job, getting the lawless person free, and the family who lost the loved one is left in rage and fear. The whole thing also comes to the point that the culprit is more looked at as a victim than an evil doer. What do we want with all this?! It is a wicked system that does not satisfy the purpose.
