Belize City Man Survives Road Traffic Mishap in Lords Bank Village

A third mishap, this one in Lords Bank Village, involved the manager of a local business in Belize City.  Enrique Minima is lucky to have escaped unhurt when he lost control of the wheel of his mini SUV as he was driving towards Edwin Parks Avenue.  The vehicle overturned once and was extensively damaged as a result of the accident.  The wave of road traffic accidents within the expansive Rural Eastern Division has prompted the head of that jurisdiction to request training for his officers to become certified Emergency Medical Technicians.

Sr. Supt. Edward Broaster, Regional Commander, Rural Eastern Division

“The third incident happened at 1:39 a.m. on Sunday morning where a silver Daihatsu Terios, license plate 23618 driven by Enrique Minima, thirty-eight-years-old manager of 88 Kitchen on Central American Boulevard, Belize City was traveling on the Lords Bank Road from Green Estate towards Edwin Parks Avenue, Lords Bank when he suffered mechanical difficulties and his steering was locked.  He flipped one time and his vehicle was extensively damaged.  Mr. Minima did not really suffer serious injuries.  Given the nature of the numerous accidents that have been occurring on the George Price Highway and the Phillip Goldson Highway, we have put a proposal together where we’ll be submitting to the Commissioner of Police for the Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Health to consider where we train police officers to be paramedics and serve as dual functions.  And we have an ambulance based out of Sand Hill and another based in Mahogany Heights so that we can have much quicker and faster response by the medical team or the emergency team to render aid and service in the effort of protecting life.  As well, we’re looking at setting up speed traps in various parts of the George Price Highway, as well as the Phillip Goldson Highway.”
