Prisoner at Ladyville Police Station Tries to Commit Suicide in Cell

Lane Grinage

The home invasion at the house of Lebanese Honorary Consul in Burrel Boom is back in the news tonight.  A total of eighteen persons have been charged but the last of eight suspects believed to have invaded the home of Sarkis Abou-Nehra reportedly tried to commit suicide while locked down at the Ladyville Police Station this weekend. According to Police, surveillance footage has confirmed that Lane Grinage tried to hang himself from the cross bar of the cell using a red rag. Grinage had been the subject of an intense manhunt since the brutal home invasion on December fourth, and was captured in Seine Bight on December sixteenth. The bizarre hanging while in custody is the second such incident at the Ladyville Station. In February, eighteen year old Otto Palma was found in his cell dead, suspended from the bar by his shirt. This afternoon Ladyville Police hosted a briefing to update the media.

Sr. Supt. Edward Broaster, Commander, Eastern Division Rural

“Over the weekend we had an incident in our cellblock where Mr. Lane Grinage attempted to commit suicide. Fortunately for us because of the surveillance mechanism that we put in place after we had a suicide in our cellblock at the Ladyville Police Station the officers were alerted and were able to get into the cellblock and get to Mr. Grinage where he was rushed to the B.D.F. medical centre and then later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he underwent treatment and is currently still at the K.H.M.H.  The doctors were not willing to release him until he received psychological evaluation. He also left a suicide note of which the details I will not go into because we may use the note in evidence for the aggravated burglary. When the officers went to the cellblock they found a red rag that he apparently tried to tie to his neck and tie it to the bar and tried to strangle himself.”

“Sir would you be able to explain to us how he got access to the paper and a pen?”

Sr. Supt. Edward Broaster

“And the rag…we are currently conducting an internal investigation into that matter to deal with those officers who were negligent in executing proper searches and ensuring that the cellblock and the prisoner were clear of all those items that I just mentioned.”
