Traffic accident claims child in Corozal

Story PictureTonight the family and friends of police sergeant Alford Grinage are hoping that the officer fully recovers from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on the Western Highway on Wednesday night. According to authorities, Grinage was travelling from Belize City towards Hattieville Village when somewhere between miles seven and eight he tried to over take another vehicle. But Grinage’s front bumper touched the rear bumper of the other car causing Grinage to lose control and run off on the left hand side of the road. Grinage, who sustained internal injuries, lost consciousness and was rushed to Universal Health Services. Today, sources tell News 5 that Grinage remains in a critical condition in a semi – conscious state. Police say because at the time of the incident it was raining they believe wet conditions of the highway may have contributed to the accident. Alford Grinage is the officer in charge of the Central Intelligence Unit of the Belize Police Department.
