Kareem Clarke Memorial Fund Donates to Two Feeding Programs

Alexis Milan

This morning, representatives of the Kareem Clarke Memorial fund presented just over two thousand six, hundred dollars each to two separate feeding programs in Belize City. The money was collected from generous donors by friends and colleagues of slain journalist Kareem Clarke who also held a commemorative event and fund-raiser on his birthday on November twenty-first. Both feeding programs were chosen because they were projects with special significance to the promising young reporter killed by gun violence.

“The only reason we started this was in memory of Kareem. The only reason we came together was because Kareem touched us all in a way that we felt we had to come together and unite and join for a cause for his legacy, for the things that he believed in and the causes that he championed.”

“We are heartily grateful to them and I wish them all the best. Like I mentioned to them this can only get better because it’s a great donation to our feeding program and it will take us a long way. The first donation did take us far and the children were so happy with the variety of food that we were able to give them and again this donation will take us a long way also.”

“I am trying to find the words because I myself still haven’t gotten over what happened to the guy. I know that even if he was living he would have put his stamp on this one. Through his life that was sacrificed brought much needed help to my program. He is my personal brethren and I feel it still but I’m really grateful for the contribution after we lost a brethren like Kareem Clarke. I was out there at the event and I was touched by the message and I have to big up the people like you all in the media who started this foundation. Kareem hasn’t even been gone a year yet and the amount of work and donations have already helped a lot of people. I’m really grateful…really grateful.”
