What’s the Formula for Reaching Sugar Quota?

Jose Novelo

Because the last survey estimated one point seven million tons of cane in the field, and the factory can only mill one point three, the Sugar Cane Production Committee had to juggle and jump through hoops to make magic happen. S.C.P.C. Chairman Jose Novelo explained the formula used to get as much cane delivered and milled as possible.

Jose Novelo, Chairman, Sugar Cane Production Committee

“We took all the deliveries from the 2015 and we adjusted them by ten percent and this ten percent is based on the drought that we all experienced. To that amount, we added to tonnage from the reports that farmers made on stand over cane, on plant cane. Now when we added all of that, we came up with one point six million tons, roughly. Now we know for a fact that the factory can only take one point three million tons, so as a result of that, we made a further adjustment by twenty percent to ensure that every single cane farmers—whether you got an increase or you got a reduction—has the same opportunity to deliver cane to the factory.”

“So will they deliver eighty percent, twenty percent? What percentage of their cane that they have in the field?”

Jose Novelo

“They will deliver approximately eighty percent of the quota that was allocated to them, bearing in mind that the PT is one point six one nine million tons and the factory can only take one point three. But we made some adjustments last week where we are now saying that the factory will grind one point three one nine million tons based on a twenty-seven-week crop. And what we are saying is that if we start early enough, which we have now, and towards the end if we have good weather conditions, we expect that the factory will be grinding even more so that whatever amount of cane is left in the fields are as little as possible.”

You people must get your own factory and stop depending on your oppressor BSI/ASR. You people like bondage. You don’t need permission from anyone to set up your own factory , grind the cane all year round, and sell to whomever. Don’t be stupid !!!! Set up your own or continue to be slaves of BSI/ASR.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with Ricky, BSI say that the factory can only mill xxxx amount of cane and is reducing the amount of cane each can farmer can deliver. What they don’t say is that they are planting more cane and were trying to remove quotas from cane farmers to give BSI. If the factory can only mill so much cane and that amount of cane in the fields is more than what BSI can mill, why the hell is BSI planning more cane if they know they can mill all that amount. I am a cane farmer, and I can tell you that we are living in an era of oppression with BSI/ASR.

ALL CANE FARMERS GET TOGETHER, THINK, RESEARCH, YOU ALL MUST CAN FIND A SOLUTION.
AND WHY THE MILL CAN`T WORK ALL YEAR ROUND?
WHAT IS THE POLITICS BEHIND THE MILL NOT GOING ALL YEAR ROUND?
